BiTmaP
BiTmap is a Chicago Technology Park training program that certifies information technology (IT) professionals in the field of bioinformatics. BiTmaP is sponsored by a $3 million grant awarded to the Chicago Technology Park by the U.S. Department of Labor. The grant supports a partnership with the CTP and the University of Illinois at Chicago to create and manage an online training curriculum at the interface of information technology and the life sciences. The ultimate goal of BiTmaP is to partner with local and regional businesses, learning institutions, industrial organizations, and workforce development agencies to place BiTmaP students in successful careers in bioinformatics
Chicago-ITEC
Chicago-ITEC is part of a statewide network of enterprise development centers funded by the State of Illinois’ Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunities. The mission of Chicago-ITEC is to stimulate development of advanced technology and accelerated growth of technology business sector in Chicago. Since its launch, Chicago-ITEC has assisted more than 100 high-tech companies with a wide scope of business development services. The program, operated by Illinois VENTURES, is a partnership of the Illinois Medical District, Chicago Technology Park, the Illinois Institute of Technology, the University of Illinois, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
District Member Council
The District Member Council is comprised of representatives of the Illinois Medical District Commission Staff and each of the medical institutions with more than 500,000 square-feet of occupied space inside the IMD borders. The Council serves as a vehicle to communicate and coordinated District-wide activities among its major constituency, and to keep member institutions abreast of major initiatives of the IMD or the member institutions themselves. The Council also provides access to the IMD’s bonding authority for capital development within the District.
District Security Group
The IMD coordinates the District Security Group (DSG), a collaboration of the 12 law enforcement and security services operating within the District. DSG members includes the FBI, Illinois State Police, UIC Police, and the Chicago Police Department. The district is home to a number of law enforcement facilities, including the FBI regional headquarters, the State Police Forensics Center and Satellite Patrol Office, and the City of Chicago 12th District Police Station, as well as other institutional law enforcement and security services.
IMD Guest House Foundation
The IMD Guest House Foundation provides free or inexpensive accommodations to individuals and families with loved ones hospitalized in one of the IMD’s institutions and who are not financially able to afford temporary local housing. With 6 rooms in the Medical Center Apartments, the Guest House has become a mini-hotel for patients’ families in need. The IMD Guest House is a joint venture founded by the Illinois Medical District, Rush University Medical Center, the Cook County Bureau of Health Services, and the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago.
