Hospitals start AIDS center with $4M grant
Sept. 08, 2009 — Three West Side hospitals will create an AIDS research center with the help of a nearly $4-million federal grant, the medical centers said Tuesday.
The National Institutes of Health awarded the five-year, $3.8-million grant to Rush University Medical Center, University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center and Cook County’s health system, which includes Stroger Hospital. The three hospitals share the Illinois Medical District campus, which also is home to the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center, one of the largest HIV clinics in the Midwest.
