Farmers’ Market to be held weekly in IMD
CHICAGO – The Jesse Brown Veterans Administration Medical Center, MOVE, and HUSV sponsor the Illinois Medical District (IMD) Farmers’ Market every Friday from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the Arthington Mall at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), between the Sports Complex and Nursing Building, through October 2, 2009.
For sale will be fresh, locally-grown produce, salsas, pasta sauces, preserves, honey, hand-made soap, and fresh-cut flowers.
Take the opportunity to enjoy some music and socialize with others in the Illinois Medical District and surrounding community in a healthy, green environment. Watch for announcements about events that will take place at the market over the course of the summer, including a chef’s cooking demonstration with samples, yoga on the lawn, tips on having a well-behaved pet, and a harvest of other health-enhancing activities.
Enjoy a summer of veggies bursting with flavor and nutrition via the Community-Shared Agriculture (CSA) program. For $300 you can have ¾ bushel of produce delivered to the market every week through Oct. 2. The produce is picked the morning it is delivered, so you will eat fresh, locally-grown produce, in harmony with the season.
