District Member Council (DMC)

The District Member Council is comprised of representatives of the Illinois Medical District Commission Staff and each of the medical institutions with more than 500,000 square-feet of occupied space inside the IMD borders. The DMC serves as a vehicle to communicate and coordinate District-wide activities among its major constituency, and to keep member institutions abreast of major initiatives of the IMD or the member institutions themselves. The DMC also provides access to the IMD’s bonding authority for capital development within the District.

District Security Group (DSG)

The IMDC coordinates the District Security Group (DSG), a collaboration of the 12 law enforcement and security services operating within the District. DSG members includes the FBI, Illinois State Police, UIC Police, and the Chicago Police Department. The District is home to a number of law enforcement facilities, including the FBI regional headquarters, the State Police Forensics Center and Satellite Patrol Office, and the City of Chicago 12th District Police Station, as well as other institutional law enforcement and security services.

IMD Guest House Foundation

The IMD Guest House Foundation started in response to a critical need for affordable accommodations where family members can stay while their loved one receives medical treatment in the District. The Guest House’s mission has expanded over time to include not only family members, but also the patients themselves, when they travel to Chicago for outpatient treatment. Each person who stays at the Guest House’s facilities is provided with comfortable, affordable accommodations for as long as they need it. The Guest House is the only such facility in Chicago that serves both children and adult patients, and families of children and adult patients, providing comfort and a safe haven at a time when energy must be directed to larger issues. Each of the hospitals in the Illinois Medical District is within walking distance of the Guest House’s accommodations. As they are able, guests pay a moderate amount for the accommodations. No one in need is ever turned away from the Guest House for inability to pay.
