A Message from IMDC Executive Director, Dr. Suzet McKinney
Dear IMD Partners and Friends:
I’m happy to announce that on July 19, the IMDC Board of Commissoners formally adopted the updated IMD Master Plan. This milestone comes after 16 months of data anaylsis, research, focus groups, meetings with residents and elected officials and a public feedback period.
I want to thank all of our stakeholders who helped make this project a success. We heard your concerns and opinions about the future direction of the IMD, and we believe that you will find your invaluable input reflected throughout this updated version of the IMD Master Plan.
Of course, finalizing the updated Master Plan was just the first of several important steps toward achieving our shared vision for the IMD. The existing zoning ordinance applicable to the IMD, known as Planned Development 30, or PD 30, will be amended to reflect the updated Master Plan. Our staff are preparing the amendment and will work closely with various City departments and stakeholders to facilitate passage and enactment.
Together, and with this updated plan, we plan to transform the IMD into the national model of a vibrant, thriving urban medical district.
Suzet McKinney, DrPH, MPH

With temperatures climbing into the 90's and 100's recently, we'd like to provide some important summer weather safety tips to share internally and with your stakeholders. The CDC recommends three basic tips to help keep you safe during periods of extreme heat:
- Stay Cool: stay inside air conditioned buildings whenever possible.
- Stay Hydrated: drink more water than usual, as your body loses fluid through sweat
- Stay Informed: Check your local newscast for weather forecasts to help you prepare
In addition, it’s especially important to check on your family, friends and neighbors who are more vulnerable to extreme heat. This includes children, the elderly, the disabled and people with pre-existing medical conditions. If you’re not comfortable checking on someone, you can always call your local authorities to ask for a well-being check. For more information on summer heat safety, click here.
